The Camp American kitchen needs a limited number of volunteers. Deep tuition discounts are available for the children of kitchen volunteers. Please call Executive Director Chuck Michaelis, for complete details. (614) 893-5986
We take the care of other people’s children very seriously. Therefore Camp American sets high standards for the faith, character and behavior of its staff and volunteers.
Counselors are invited by our staff and board members based on a personal relationship with the candidate. We never allow individuals we don’t know to become counselors. Generally, counselors are at least 25 years old. Exceptions are made at the discretion of the board. Counselors must be in agreement with the Camp American statement of faith. Counselors and staff who fail to perform their duties as judged by the Camp American board of directors will not be invited to return or will be asked to leave, depending on the specific case.
Camp American often has room for qualified volunteers. This is one of the ways you can make Camp American a family experience. We give preference to previous volunteers who have proven themselves “in the field.” Please contact us to inquire about volunteer positions. These positions usually fill up fast so call early.
If you believe that you can meet the high standards we have set for our volunteers, counselors and kitchen staff and want to be a part of the effort to prepare our future leaders then please contact us. Volunteers and counselors attend Camp American for free and get a significant discount on their children’s tuition. The work is not difficult but there is a high level of responsibility. The rewards are well worth the effort.
